How do I prepare for a Reiki session?
Thinking through your goals and preparing for your reiki session can help you make the most of the experience and leave your session with the most complete feeling of calm, relaxation and rejuvenation. Below are some steps to take to prepare.
Find a Qualified Reiki Practitioner
It is important to find a practitioner who is certified and experienced. At The Holistic Loft, our reiki sessions are led by a Reiki Master Teacher who has the credentials, experience and expertise to ensure that you get the most out of your reiki therapy session. Eleanor Mila has been coaching and practicing reiki professionally for 6 years and is a life-long intuitive.
Schedule Your Session Strategically
Make sure you have time after your session to bask in the afterglow. You may want to plan downtime following your session to rest, relax, journal or reflect on your experience. Reiki can stir up emotions so it’s best to not schedule your first reiki session the day before a big event. Once you’ve had a few sessions, we can strategically schedule reiki sessions before big events to help you enter them in a grounded state.
Wear Comfortable Clothing
You’ll stay fully clothed during your reiki session. Choose clothing that allows you to relax and move freely. We have a table warmer and blankets for those who find comfort in warmth.
Stay Hydrated
Drink plenty of water before and after your reiki session. Hydration can help facilitate energy flow and support your body's natural healing process. If you want to step it up a notch, we suggest a quality coconut water after your session for the best hydration.
Set Intentions
Take a few moments to set your goals for your reiki session. Reflect on what you hope to achieve or experience during the session, whether it's relaxation, stress relief, pain management, emotional healing, or spiritual growth. You’ll discuss those goals with your practitioner at the start of each reiki session.
Prepare Mentally
Clear your mind and set aside any distractions or worries before the session. You may choose to practice mindfulness, deep breathing, or meditation to calm your thoughts and center yourself.
Communicate with the Practitioner
At the start of your session, you’ll have the opportunity to discuss your intentions, any areas of concern or any health conditions you have. Be sure to communicate openly as this information can help your practitioner tailor the session to meet your needs.
Be Open-minded
Approach each reiki session with an open mind and a willingness to receive healing energy. Trust in the process and allow yourself to relax and surrender to the experience.
